Map of the Moldovan part of the Dniester River highlights localities documented during the project.

33 years after the brief yet bloody war that divided the region, Shadow of the Russian Olive examines the administrative boundary between Moldova and Transnistria, a Russian-backed breakaway territory. It documents lives and landscapes along the dividing Dniester River, shedding light on the frozen conflict as it fractures and shifts.

A scenic view of a large river with a tree in the foreground and a hilly landscape in the background under a cloudy sky.

Exhibited in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, and was part of Moldox 2025, Unfolding Lab. Watch the video here.
